Key Holder – Full TimeThis role models our mission and core values, striving to be the neighborhood place for natural foods and quality supplies for dogs and cats. Key Holders also act as Manager‑On‑Duty in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Manager.
Responsibilities- Ensure each customer receives outstanding service by providing a genuine, friendly and entertaining experience. Approach and engage every customer in conversation using open‑ended questions and active listening to determine their needs and provide them with appropriate product selections.
- Maintain solid product knowledge and stay current with new product releases.
- Demonstrate products and add value to every interaction.
- Perform general housekeeping to keep the store clean and organized.
- Assist in processing shipments, replenishing inventory, merchandising, and monitoring floor stock to ensure all products are priced, displayed, and rotated correctly.
- Complete transactions at the POS quickly and accurately.
- Provide a lasting impression during every interaction, including carry‑out service.
- Handle escalated customer‑service issues and resolve or elevate them; communicate all issues and resolutions to the Store Manager.
- Plan, assign, and direct work during a shift, ensuring accurate completion of all closing activities.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Pet People policies/procedures and applicable laws.
- Celebrate successes.
- A love of pets and a genuine interest in animal nutrition and welfare.
- Previous retail experience as a Key Holder or Lead.
- A strong focus on building customer relationships through excellent customer service.
- Energy and enthusiasm.
- Integrity, honesty, fairness, and mutual respect.
- Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced, high‑priority environment.
- Ability to move merchandise up to 50 lbs. frequently.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Willingness to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
