Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Equipment Mechanic to join their equipment rental division. This role is ideal for a skilled technician with experience inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing construction equipment to ensure it remains safe, reliable, and ready for customer use.
The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, experience working on a variety of heavy equipment brands, and the ability to perform both shop repairs and occasional field service when needed.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect rental tools and equipment to diagnose malfunctions and determine operational condition.
- Perform preventative maintenance according to established service schedules.
- Repair equipment enclosures, interiors, dashboards, and related components.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and basic electronic systems.
- Perform emergency field repairs when possible or assist in returning equipment to the shop for additional repairs.
- Operate equipment to diagnose issues, verify repairs, and move equipment safely throughout the shop and yard.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Complete required equipment inspections and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Document repair findings, work performed, and service recommendations using work orders and computerized systems.
- Follow all company policies and applicable safety procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Three to five years of equipment rental industry experience preferred.
- JLG and Genie certifications preferred.
- Working knowledge of John Deere, Komatsu, Bobcat, and Caterpillar equipment.
- Strong understanding of the principles, methods, tools, and equipment used to repair construction vehicles and self-powered heavy equipment.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and basic electronic issues.
- Ability to develop increasingly advanced mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Experience maintaining accurate service records and repair documentation.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with coworkers and customers.
- Safety-focused with the ability to follow all applicable safety standards, regulations, and procedures.
