ThePurpose:
The Trade Show Electrician is responsible for the assembly, wiring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical systems used in custom trade show exhibits, event structures, and experiential marketing environments. This position works primarily in a fabrication shop setting, ensuring all electrical components are installed safely, function properly, and meet client specifications before shipment and installation.
The Job:- Assemble and install electrical systems in trade show exhibits, displays, kiosks, and custom structures.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, shop drawings, construction documents, and design specifications.
- Install and wire LED lighting systems, power distribution components, receptacles and switches, transformers and power supplies, and AV and interactive display power systems.
- Perform electrical testing and quality inspections prior to shipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform repairs as needed.
- Organize and label wiring for efficient installation and maintenance in the field.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable NEC standards and company safety procedures.
- Collaborate with carpenters, painters, fabricators, project managers, and graphics teams during exhibit construction.
- Assist with show-site installations and dismantles when required.
- Maintain inventory of electrical materials, tools, and supplies.
- Document electrical configurations and provide as-built information when applicable.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent experience.
- Trade show, exhibit fabrication, entertainment, or event production experience.
- Knowledge of low-voltage systems, LED technology, DMX controls, and audiovisual power requirements.
- Experience working with custom fabrication and temporary structures.
- Forklift and aerial lift certification.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of electrical experience in commercial, exhibit, theatrical, event, or related industries.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and blueprints.
- Knowledge of electrical installation techniques and basic electrical theory.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems independently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fabrication shop environment.
