Sunbelt Asphalt Surfaces, Inc. is seeking an experienced Dump Truck Driver to join our asphalt and materials distribution team. This team specializes in transporting and distributing asphalt components in all stages, from raw material to final product. The Sunbelt Asphalt Plant produces hundreds of thousands of tons of asphalt annually for company projects and private consumers.
Job Description- Maintain a valid CDL-B Driver License & DOT Medical Card.
- Maintain consistent and concise communication with leadership and peers.
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times to promote a positive company image.
- Perform a pre‑trip inspection each morning, checking oil, water, fuel, tires and lights on the tractor‑trailer, and report any problems or malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Receive job assignments from the supervisor or dispatcher, transport aggregate, base and asphalt between the plant and job sites, and monitor loading to ensure even distribution and proper weight.
- Load and transport material safely and efficiently, complying with all company, DOT, Federal, State and local safety regulations.
- Complete trip tickets and daily DOT log books as required, and submit all necessary forms and reports to the supervisor or dispatcher.
- Perform minor maintenance and repairs to the truck, such as painting, washing and cleaning.
- Assist crew in laborious work when the truck is not in use.
- Follow all safety rules, company policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Over one to three years of experience operating a dump body truck, hauling materials, backing up to paving equipment, working next to traffic, dumping on various subgrades and inclines.
- Proficiency utilizing electronic apps (e.g., Whip Around, Samsara, Fleet Watcher).
- Use of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers, including decimals and fractions, required for checking reports, forms and records.
- Ability to climb into and out of the truck and onto tanker as required.
- Ability to grasp, push and pull levers and operate foot pedals, with repetitive wrist, hand and finger motions.
- Moderate physical effort required to operate the truck, lift light material up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move heavy material over 60 pounds.
- Requires a DOT physical and passage of an NIDA drug screen.
