Greets and welcomes patients and general public who call into the facility in a courteous manner while adhering to the policies and guidelines of the organization. Provides direction and information both internally and externally. In accordance with established hospital policies, the operator is responsible for following all general and emergency procedures accurately and in a timely manner which includes making phone calls, overhead public address announcements, pages, and other electronic notifications.
Operators perform other related tasks and projects as directed. The Communication Center is operational 24 hours a day and preparedness to work any shift is required of all operators.
High School Diploma/GED required. Applicant must have 2 years of customer service experience. Computer keyboarding and general telephone knowledge is required. Applicant must have a high level of concentration, memory retention, and attention to detail. Applicant must display competency in spoken communication, interaction and versatility, decision making and problem solving, coping, commitment to task, tolerance of ambiguity, decisiveness, and the ability to work both with a team and independently.
Preferred:
Vocational training in office curriculum. Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance. May be required to work weekends or overtime. One year as a telephone operator or similar role preferred. The Switchboard Operator needs to clearly speak, write, and understand the English language as well as be understood while speaking the English Language.

Compensation Detail: $xx,xxx - $xx,xxx / year; predetermined rate of $xx.xx per hour; compensation range $xx.xx -$xx.xx / hour based on union contract.
Schedule:
Part Time;
Supplemental/PRN, as needed based on staffing.
Schedule Details:
Hours scheduled between 6:30a-3p, 2:30p-11p, or 10:45p-6:45a. Training will be for 6-8 weeks and candidates must train at least 40 hours/pp. After training there is a monthly and yearly hour requirement to fulfill including at least 1 weekend/month and 1 holiday/year.
