Slate Hospitality Group, LLC is recruiting an experienced and motivated Hotel General Manager for our Cobblestone Hotel and Suites in Austin, MN.

The general manager is the glue that holds all moving parts of our business together. As a manager, you are expected to provide day‑to‑day leadership and direction by maximizing financial returns, driving development of team members, creating and maintaining a unique guest experience, executing on brand standards, and building awareness of the hotel in the local community, all while maintaining operational and guest services standards as defined by Cobblestone Hotels and Slate Hospitality Group, LLC.

FINANCIALS

& ACCOUNTING
  • Analyze financials and data to drive revenues, future profitability, and maximum return on investment.
  • Ensure all accounts are reconciled on a weekly basis and oversee the process of any overdue accounts.
  • Review accounts payable daily and submit weekly.
  • Use distribution channels and technology platforms to drive revenue and maximize market share.
  • Ability to understand profit and loss statement, budgets, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, bank deposits, inventories, and general accounting procedures.
TEAM DEVELOPMENT.
  • Develop programs that drive improvements in team member engagement and are aligned with the service philosophy.
  • Establish performance and development goals for team members and provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to enhance performance.
  • Oversee any salary, disciplinary or staffing/human resources related actions in accordance with rules and policies.
  • Monitor day‑to‑day staffing requirements, plan and assign work, and establish performance and development goals for team members.
  • Educate and train all team members in compliance with federal, state and local laws and safety regulations.
  • Guarantee staff are properly trained and have the tools and equipment to carry out job duties.
  • Ensure knowledge of all employee paperwork, handbooks, and policies is complete and enforced.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with departmental management.
  • Follow all labor laws in accordance with state and federal regulations.
GUEST EXPERIENCE.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and hotel team members to establish and implement services and programs that meet or exceed guest expectations.
  • Drive improvement in guest satisfaction goals.
  • Demonstrate brand loyalty by maintaining compliance with all required brand and service standards, and license agreement mandates.
  • Make time to interact with guests, solicit feedback and build relationships.
  • Respond in a courteous and prompt manner to all guest questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction.
  • Audit and oversee the accuracy of all guest billing.
  • Inspect rooms daily to ensure that housekeeping maintains quality.
RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS.
  • Ensure that Cobblestone Hotels and Slate Hospitality Group, LLC standards are embraced and practiced by all team members, including oneself.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for guests, team members and hotel assets in compliance with policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain relations with outside contacts.
  • Act as public relations representative to raise awareness of the hotel and brand in the local community; drive team member involvement in community organizations, activities and businesses.
  • Develop and carry out action plans to be environmentally conscious by taking steps to reduce the hotel’s carbon footprint.
  • Develop and maintain rapport with competitive hotels, City Convention and Visitors Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, lead sources, clients, etc.
  • Know and follow all safety standards and procedures.
SALES & MARKETING.
  • Responsible for acquiring and maintaining a solid base of customers and accounts and for attaining a high occupancy and level of profitability.
  • Solicit sales for the property through planned, personal calls and telephone solicitations to local trade and professional associations/corporations, travel agents, and other local and state organizations that could result in potential business for the hotel.
