The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking to hire Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to join our Minnesota practice. The primary site will be Austin, MN, with potential to work at other sites in the future. The practice includes ERs in Austin, Albert Lea, Cannon Falls, Red Wing, Lake City, Mankato, Fairmont, Waseca, and St. James.
These positions provide the opportunity to join and further develop high quality health care delivery teams with commitment to practice, education and research. The Austin/Mankato/Rochester sites are the main training and orientation sites for Mayo Clinic’s EM NP/PAs within Minnesota. NP/PA coverage is 24/7 alongside physician colleagues at most sites. The NP/PA serves as an independent provider, collaborates with physicians, and works with a variety of other healthcare professionals.
Mayo Clinic’s BEST program offers onboarding designed to integrate didactic education, simulation, and AI-driven learning with hands-on clinical experience to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care at the bedside.
- Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacological agents, and patient education.
- Perform procedures including laceration repair, I&D, lumbar puncture, intubation, non-invasive airway management, fracture reductions, procedural sedation, and critical care management, with opportunities to work in solo practice at critical access hospitals.
- Provide 24/7 practice coverage alongside physician colleagues at most sites and serve as an independent provider in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in ongoing practice, education, and research initiatives as part of Mayo Clinic’s EM NP/PA teams.
- Engage in the Bootcamp Experience Staff Training (BEST) onboarding program as part of orientation and professional development.
- Nurse Practitioner:
Masters-prepared, current Minnesota RN and APRN license, and certification as one of the following:
Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP), or Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP). - Physician Assistant:
Graduate of an accredited PA program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice. - Registration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) is required.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS are required or can be obtained after start.
