Life Works of Austin, TX is looking for a part‑time (24hrs.)
Accounting Specialist to join our Finance & Accounting team! The Accounting Specialist works in a paperless fast‑paced/high‑volume environment and is responsible for processing accounts payable invoices, check requests and weekly check runs in adherence to generally accepted accounting principles and agency policies and procedures. The Accounting Specialist maintains a positive work environment, by interacting and communicating professionally and collaboratively with clients, coworkers, supervisors and the public while achieving performance expectations.
This part‑time, non‑exempt position earns a competitive rate ranging from $29.02–$31.71/hr. depending upon experience. Benefits are also included, which consist of 24 PTO days per year (accrued); 11 paid holidays per year; a premium‑free employee medical plan with $100 per month HSA contribution (plus other affordable employee or family medical, dental, and vision options!); a retirement savings plan with 50% match on the first 6% of contributions, and much more!
Responsibilities- Primary person responsible for processing accounts payable which includes invoices/check requests, rush checks, expenses reports and company Visa credit cards.
- Ensures check requests are properly approved, documented, and coded correctly; prints checks and ensures they are timely and accurately distributed.
- Pulls activity of bank accounts on a daily basis and provides to counterparts for further processing.
- Uploads files to the bank for Positive Pay.
- Researches and resolves outstanding bank reconciliation items.
- Reconciles vendor statements and resolves any issues or discrepancies.
- Posts ACH/EFT payments to vendors to the appropriate accounts.
- Prepares and deposits AR checks and Money Orders using scanner to the bank and assist when needed in recording the transactions into Net Suite.
- Develops financial reports for information on‑demand using Net Suite or Microsoft Office products.
- Assists with annual audits and other internal funder audits.
- Develops methods to ensure accurate financial records.
- Maintains vendor files including W‑9s.
- Annually prepares, processes and distributes all 1099 Forms while ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all Forms.
- Becomes well versed in the contract requirements to ensure accuracy of Accounts Payable.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding client and staff information, and fiscal decisions.
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field;
- Requires minimum 2+ years of accounting experience; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of computerized accounting systems Net Suite preferred.
- Proficient level experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
