Our client is a mid-sized, family-owned business with a 50-year track record of success in Central Texas and the surrounding regions. With 200+ employees across several locations, the company is a leading supplier and distributor of industrial products and equipment. They are seeking a Senior Accountant for a key position at their Austin, TX headquarters.

This individual will be responsible for full-cycle G/L accounting, monthly and quarterly close processes, A/P oversight, Cash management, and assisting with Financial Statement presentation, amongst other duties such as FP&A support, ERP system upgrades, and working with Auditors. This is a great opportunity for a degreed Accounting professional to join an established, stable Austin-based company in a role that will provide opportunities for career growth and advancement within the organization.

Please note that this is an on-site position with an office location in southeast Austin.

Specific job duties will include, although not be limited to the following:

  • Performing hands-on G/L accounting duties, including balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis, while serving as a key player during monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Overseeing bank account activity for multiple entities, while performing weekly bank reconciliations and monitoring cash-related controls.
  • Assisting the Controller with preparation of financial statements, along with GAAP compliance (including ASC 842, accounting for Leases).
  • Serving as a liaison to the A/P team by reviewing vendor activity, accruals, and unusual transactions.
  • Overseeing prepaid assets and fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and supporting schedules.
  • Working closely with the FP&A team, while assisting with the budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Other duties including working with the external CPA firm on Audit coordination, along with Tax items, enhancing internal controls, and participating in ERP system upgrades.

To be considered, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Accounting is required.
  • Three or more (3+) years of progressive accounting experience is needed.
  • CPA or CPA candidate is desirable, although not a requirement.
  • Prior experience in public accounting (Audit) is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP is needed, along with strong Excel skills.
  • Previous use of an ERP system such as Oracle, JD Edwards, SAP, etc. is preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a high degree of detail-orientation, organization, and analytical abilities.
