Reinsurance Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Reinsurance Staff Accountant to apply accounting principles to prepare financial reports and analyze financial data. Staff Accountants maintain and execute a variety of financial procedures, including month-end, quarterly and year-end closings, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations. This position will also assist with some administrative functions within the Reinsurance Department.

• General Ledger journal entries and account analysis
• Month end closing and financial reporting
• Bank reconciliations
• Reconciliations between administrative system and general ledger
• Cash management and Trust Account tracking / reconciliation
• Preparation of reinsurance cessions statements and related reconciliations
• Review data system to ensure reinsurance tables are established and that all entities are created and documented as needed
• Research and follow up on documents necessary for formation of reinsurance companies and bank accounts
• Special Projects as needed

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or Associates degree in Accounting
• One year work experience preferred
• Clear and concise communications skills are required
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
• Experience working with Quick Books a plus

Basic understanding of databases

• Experience working for an administrative company or an insurance company a plus.
