A well-established, full-service CPA firm is seeking a seasoned Senior Tax Manager to serve as a key technical resource for a growing book of clients. With a team-oriented culture and forward-thinking leadership, this firm is actively expanding its advisory practice and investing in technology-driven solutions to improve efficiency and client value. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong tax technician who is ready to move beyond compliance and contribute to meaningful client advisory conversations.
This role is full-time, on-site, and based in Austin, TX.
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced tax professional looking to take on a leadership role, deepen client relationships, and grow with a firm that is intentionally building something different.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and review federal and state tax returns including 1040, 1065, 1120-S, 1120, 1041, and 990
- Serve as the primary technical tax resource during client advisory meetings, fielding complex tax questions alongside firm leadership
- Review accounting work completed by staff for accuracy, timeliness, and proper account coding
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain financial records, general ledgers, and accounts including AP, AR, inventory, and amortization schedules
- Contribute to firm-wide initiatives around technology adoption and process improvement
- Mentor and support junior staff as needed
- 8–15+ years of public accounting experience with a strong tax focus
- Proficiency across a broad range of return types including individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and nonprofits
- Experience in or genuine interest in client advisory work beyond compliance
- Comfortable working in a tech-forward environment with openness to AI tools and workflow automation
- Strong communication skills and a client-service mindset
- Proficiency with Quick Books, Xero, or similar accounting platforms preferred
