Senior Accountant – Inventory

An established and growing Austin-based organization is seeking a Senior Accountant with strong inventory accounting experience to join its accounting team. This role will play a key part in supporting the close process, maintaining accurate inventory valuation, and partnering cross-functionally with Operations and Supply Chain teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

The ideal candidate enjoys digging into details, improving processes, and collaborating across departments while helping support scalable accounting operations and ERP enhancements.

• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis
• Review expenses and allocations for accuracy and investigate significant variances or trends
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Assist with external audit and bank audit requests
• Support ongoing improvements and enhancements within the ERP system and accounting workflows
• Identify opportunities to improve controls, efficiency, and scalability across accounting processes

• Maintain and reconcile inventory-related accounts across multiple warehouse locations
• Review and validate landed costs including freight, tariffs, duties, storage, and related expenses
• Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams to monitor inventory activity, adjustments, and product movement
• Analyze inventory adjustments and purchase price variances during close
• Assist with cycle counts and annual physical inventory processes
• Monitor inventory costing and system automation to ensure accurate product valuation and reporting

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Prior experience with inventory accounting or cost accounting required
• Understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and inventory costing methodologies
• Experience working in a distribution, product-based, manufacturing, or inventory-heavy environment preferred
• ERP system experience required; exposure to inventory subledgers strongly preferred
• Strong Excel skills including reconciliations, pivot tables, and data analysis
• CPA or CPA‑track preferred
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
