Bookkeeper

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support a nonprofit organization in Austin, Texas. This Long-term Contract position will oversee day-to-day financial records, manage payables and receivables, and help maintain accurate accounting operations. The role also includes reviewing outstanding medical-related invoices, coordinating with insurance providers to verify payment status, and assisting with office management tasks as needed.

Responsibilities:

- Maintain complete and accurate financial records for the organization, ensuring transactions are properly entered and categorized.

- Process vendor invoices, schedule payments, and follow through on accounts payable activities in a timely manner.

- Track incoming funds, post receipts, and monitor accounts receivable balances to support consistent cash flow.

- Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts regularly to identify and resolve discrepancies.

- Use Quick Books Desktop to manage bookkeeping activities, generate reports, and keep accounting data current.

- Review high-volume bills, including medical and Medicare-related charges, and confirm whether insurance payments have been received before issuing payment.

- Communicate with insurance providers and internal stakeholders to verify claim and payment details tied to outstanding invoices.

- Provide administrative and office management support related to financial operations and daily organizational needs. Requirements - Proven bookkeeping experience, preferably within a nonprofit environment.

- Strong working knowledge of Quick Books Desktop for daily accounting and reporting tasks.

- Hands-on experience managing both accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

- Ability to perform bank reconciliations accurately and consistently.

- Familiarity with medical billing, Medicare-related payments, or insurance payment verification is highly preferred.

- Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage a large volume of invoices and payment follow-up.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential financial information professionally.
