About the Role
As the Accounting Manager, you will support the Company’s financial close, revenue recognition, and internal control processes to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This role partners cross‑functionally to align accounting outcomes with commercial activity, maintains strong governance and SOX compliance, and drives continuous improvement across close and reporting processes.
Responsibilities- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close across all legal entities, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely reporting.
- Establish and enforce close calendars, ownership, and review standards to meet internal and external deadlines.
- Review and approve journal entries, ensuring timely preparation, appropriate support, and compliance with U.S. GAAP, company policies, and SOX control requirements.
- Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accounts are fully supported, reviewed, and cleared of aged or unresolved items.
- Identify and resolve close, reconciliation, process, or system issues that may impact accuracy, controls, or timelines.
- Maintain strong governance, audit readiness, and SOX compliance through effective control execution, documentation, and remediation.
- Drive continuous improvement to enhance close efficiency, scalability, and control effectiveness.
- Own revenue recognition under ASC 606, focusing on discounts, promotions, rebates, billbacks, trade spend, and contra‑revenue accounting.
- Review complex customer arrangements to ensure appropriate accounting treatment and alignment with commercial terms and internal policies.
- Partner with Sales, Supply Chain, and FP&A to understand deal structures, promotional activity, and related accounting impacts.
- Translate technical accounting guidance into clear, practical direction for non‑accounting stakeholders.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on revenue and close‑related matters across the organization.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to accounting team members.
- Establish clear expectations and standards for quality, timeliness, and accountability.
- Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including similar role experience.
- Big 4 public accounting experience (2+ years) preferred.
- Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accounting policies, and internal controls.
- Experience with ERP and/or financial reporting systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics AX, One Stream, or similar).
- Prior experience in a consumer products (CPG) environment preferred.
- Advanced Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop teams.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to learn quickly.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- On‑time and accurate financial close, with minimal post‑close adjustments.
- Timely completion and quality of balance sheet reconciliations.
- Accurate and timely management reporting to support business decision‑making.
- Strong control environment and audit readiness, including SOX compliance.
