We are seeking a detail-oriented Legal Billing Specialist to join a professional services finance team. This role is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of client billing, ensuring invoices are accurate, compliant with client billing guidelines, and submitted on time. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively across attorneys, clients, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities- Edit prebills based on attorney requests using billing platforms and prebill review tools
- Generate high-volume, complex client invoices in an electronic billing system
- Ensure all invoices comply with client billing guidelines and include required supporting documentation
- Submit e-bills and supporting materials through electronic billing portals
- Monitor and resolve invoice rejections, reductions, and manage appeals as needed
- Respond to internal and external billing inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Support special projects and ad hoc reporting as assigned
- Flexibility to attend onsite trainings, work overtime, and travel occasionally as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of legal billing experience required
- Strong understanding of full-cycle billing processes in a high-volume environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional demeanor
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently while also contributing in a team environment
- Proactive mindset with strong follow-through and judgment under pressure
- Experience with legal billing systems (e.g., Aderant or similar platforms) preferred
- Familiarity with electronic billing and invoice submission systems
- Exposure to emerging technology tools (including AI platforms such as Microsoft Copilot or similar) a plus, with a willingness to learn and apply them responsibly in daily work
