Bankruptcy Accounts Examiner (Austin)

Position located at 101 E 15th St, Austin, Texas in the RID Tax Collections Unit Department. This role is a senior‑level position that requires a strong understanding of state and federal payroll tax regulations and bankruptcy law.

• Examine and audit operating reports and financial accounting records; investigate and reconcile financial records.
• File federal bankruptcy claims on parties owing taxes, fees, or penalties to TWC.
• Direct agency actions to ensure compliance with the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and protect agency interests.
• Research the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and provide guidance on tax law regulations and related statutes.
• Prepare and review Proofs of Claim for submission to U.S. Bankruptcy Court to ensure accuracy and compliance with all federal and state laws governing the protection of sensitive personal information.
• Examine Unemployment Insurance tax records of employers to secure collection of past‑due taxes in accordance with the Texas Unemployment Compensation Act and Texas Labor Code.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Accounts Examiner II:
  Two years of full‑time experience in maintaining accounting records or performing auditing work.
• Accounts Examiner III:
  Three years of full‑time experience in maintaining accounting records or performing auditing work.
• Accounts Examiner IV:
  Four years of full‑time experience in maintaining accounting records or performing auditing work.
• All levels:
  Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
