Audit Resolution Specialist (Statewide)

Position within the Division of Fraud Deterrence and Compliance Monitoring (FDCM) of the Texas Workforce Commission.

As an Audit Resolution Specialist (Auditor III), you will perform senior‑level auditing work, analyzing complex or large‑scale compliance findings, developing and documenting resolution decisions, and providing training and support to staff and external partners.

• Analyze and resolve complex questioned costs and administrative findings identified in state monitoring reports and federal audits.
• Prepare and maintain accurate work‑paper files to support resolution decisions and ensure all review points are cleared within established time limits.
• Compose clear and concise Initial Resolution Letters, Audit Resolution Reports, Initial and Final Determinations, and other management letters.
• Research applicable laws, program rules, and regulations to support resolution decisions and recommend changes to subrecipient policies and procedures when needed.
• Provide departmental and resolution training to staff or external partners.
• Track audit findings in the resolution database, perform monthly reconciliation, and report status to supervisors.
• Attend monitoring pre‑planning and debriefing meetings, provide resolution feedback, and attend monthly Workforce Manager meetings to update status reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with major coursework in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or a related field, plus at least three years of full‑time experience in accounting, program financial performance, IT auditing, management information systems analysis, business process analysis, contract monitoring, or similar positions that provide extensive knowledge of agency budgetary controls or administrative procedures and related state and federal regulatory laws.
• Education and experience may substitute for one another.
• A license to practice as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Texas, a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) satisfies the educational requirement and provides two years of required experience.

• Knowledge of auditing/monitoring methods and systems.
• Knowledge of fiscal and/or program operations.
• Strong analytical skills for gathering and analyzing audit information.
• Ability to compose clear and concise reports.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to research and analyze applicable laws, standards, and regulations.

The position is based in Austin, Texas, but work may be performed from any city in Texas. Candidates must be Texas residents or willing to relocate.
