Our Client Accounting Services (CAS) Department continues to grow in headcount and in volume of work, and we are looking for a Staff Accountant to help us continue serving our clients.
PositionSummary
At the CAS staff level, an individual is expected to become familiar with the Firm's policies and procedures; understand the rules, regulations, and code of professional conduct of the AICPA; possess an understanding of pertinent IRS regulations and code, FLSA, and TWC sections and regulations; and obtain a working knowledge of research techniques and the various research sources available to the Firm.
Job Duties- Demonstrates the ability to code transactions to the appropriate accounts with a good understanding of capitalizing assets and recording expenses.
- Reconciles client bank accounts including credit cards and investment accounts utilizing Quick Books Online or applicable software.
- Demonstrates proficiency in all aspects of Accounts Payable including entering vendor bills and preparing/processing vendor payments.
- Demonstrates proficiency in all aspects of Accounts Receivable including entering client invoices, recording payments, and deposits.
- Prepares and enters journal entries in the client file.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the preparation and processing of client payroll, including making EFTPS tax payments and annual forms W‑2, W‑3, 1099 and 1096.
- Demonstrates proficiency in preparing and processing payroll tax returns (forms 940, 941, 944, and TWC) through various software applications.
- Successfully trains clients in Quick Books Online usage and basic best practices regarding maintaining their books.
- Demonstrates proficiency in preparing and processing payroll tax returns:
Forms 1099 NEC and MISC. - Allocates client income and expenses using class tracking and/or job costing features.
- Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including creating and maintaining spreadsheets to calculate allocations of various client expenses.
- Demonstrates accuracy in preparing work papers for review.
- Communicates with clients about their books and gathers any missing information.
- Reviews accounting files prepared by clients to make ready for tax preparation and make journal entries as needed.
- Develops proficiency in the preparation of Business Personal Property Tax Renditions.
- Demonstrates the ability to work accurately, efficiently, and within budget while organizing, scheduling, and prioritizing work involving multiple assignments.
- Assists with departmental training and the documentation of processes.
- Demonstrates the ability to positively portray the Firm’s vision and mission through community involvement.
The compensation range for this position is $65,000.00 - $80,000.00. Residents of California or New York will not be considered at this time.
Minimum RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Accounting or related discipline (four‑year college or university) or Accounting Certificate.
Two to four years related experience. Public Accounting experience is a plus.
Proficiency with a Microsoft 365 environment, keyboard, mouse, multiple monitors, laptop computers, copiers, scanners, and printers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office/365 Applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, One Drive, and Teams. Quick Books, CCHAxcess, IDEA, CCH Document, Adobe, Depreciation Solutions, and Caseware.
