Senior Accountant

Steven Douglas is engaged on a search with a well-established, growing Texas retailer seeking a Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. This role offers broad exposure across financial reporting, month-end close, fixed assets, tax compliance, banking relationships, and audit support while working closely with executive leadership.

• Lead key aspects of the monthly and year-end close process
• Prepare and review complex journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger activity
• Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and resolve accounting issues
• Manage fixed asset accounting, depreciation, and capital expenditure tracking
• Review sales and use tax reporting and support tax compliance
• Prepare borrowing base certificates, bank covenant reporting, and lender reporting packages
• Support annual financial statement audits and tax compliance activities
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to Staff Accountants
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and system efficiencies
• Partner with the Controller and CFO on special projects and strategic initiatives

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close
• Experience working within a cloud-based ERP system (Sage Intacct is a plus)
• Advanced Excel skills
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

• CPA or CPA candidate
• Retail, wholesale, or multi-location accounting experience
• Fixed asset accounting and capitalization
• Bank covenant and lender reporting
• External audit support and year-end tax compliance
