- Evaluate new contracts, contract modifications, change orders, and amendments to determine appropriate accounting treatment.
- Analyze performance obligations, transaction price allocation, variable consideration, and timing of revenue recognition, including over-time recognition using cost-to-cost methodologies where applicable.
- Prepare and maintain technical accounting memoranda supporting complex revenue conclusions, and review contract assets, contract liabilities, deferred revenue, and unbilled receivables.
- Partner with Contracts and Program Management to review contract terms prior to award.
- Support accounting for Firm Fixed Price, Cost Plus, Time & Materials, Cost Reimbursable, IDIQ, Foreign Military Sales, and Direct Commercial Sales contracts.
- Ensure compliance with applicable FAR, DFARS, and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), as applicable, and monitor funding modifications, contract options, and change orders for accounting implications.
- Prepare monthly revenue-related journal entries and reconciliations, and review revenue schedules supporting SEC filings and external financial statements.
- Support quarterly disclosure requirements related to ASC 606 and coordinate revenue-related audit requests with external auditors.
- Maintain and enhance SOX-compliant controls over revenue processes, including documentation supporting the quote-to-cash process.
- Partner with Contracts, Legal, Business Development, Program Management, FP&A, and Controllership to evaluate new contract structures and improve contract language from an accounting perspective.
- Support proposal development and optimize revenue recognition outcomes for new business opportunities.
- Identify and drive opportunities for continuous process improvement within revenue accounting workflows.
