YOUR FUTURE TEAM

As an administrative assistant within the TCEQ’s Office of Water, you will join the Water Availability Division, Water Rights Permitting and Data Section, which is responsible for processing water right permit applications for new appropriations of water and applications for changes to existing water rights and for processing requests to change ownership for existing water rights. HERE’S

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
  • Ensure the completion of daily tasks and administrative duties that support the workflow associated with water right applications and record updates.
  • Coordinate administrative operations, prepare correspondence, and manage records.
  • Complete initial processing of new water rights and change of ownership applications.
  • Ensure digital and paper files are managed according to established processes.
  • Enter, develop, and maintain information in databases and webpages.
  • Assist customers and program staff through verbal communication, correspondence, data reports, and Public Information Requests.
  • Participate in special projects related to water rights permitting.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience providing administrative support to management or professional staff, including experience coordinating records, data, or administrative processes.
  • Experience with data entry into databases.
  • Experience with SharePoint file management systems.
  • Experience reviewing and retrieving records for the purpose of responding to Public Information Request.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Graduation from standard senior high school or its equivalent plus three years of full-time experience providing administrative support in an office setting.

Fifteen semester hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for each six months of the required experience.

CAREER LADDER PROGRESSION

Two years of full-time TCEQ experience as an Administrative Assistant III.

TRANSCRIPT/ COLLEGE HOURS or COURSE WORK

Work Schedule

Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m.

- 5:00 p.m.

Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Water Availability Division.
