What you’ll do
The Program Intern will assist in the promotion, development and implementation of the new Texas Agricultural Finance Authority’s grant opportunities - Agricultural Grant Program. You will work under close supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Primary Responsibilities- Assist with reviewing grant applications submitted for funding.
- Assist with special projects including planning and implementation of technical assistance provided to applicants and grantees.
- Assist in reviewing and processing requests for grant funds, monitoring reports, and project completion reports.
- Complete independent and various projects under the direction of the Director for Grants.
- Attend division staff meetings and meetings/functions with other divisions, associations, and external stakeholders as requested.
- Assist with requests for program information, including research and compiling information.
- Adhere to established work schedule with regular attendance.
- Follow all TDA policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements for the Position (State that the application must state how each qualification is met; resumes do not replace the required Texas CAPPS/WIT application).
- Enrollment in a college, university, or graduate program or a recent graduate with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and major coursework in Public Administration or related field.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours.
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders and managing competing interests.
- Knowledge of office procedures; spelling, punctuation and grammar; and business or program terminology, methods, and procedures.
- Skill in use of computer and office equipment; ability to provide customer service excellence to internal and external customers.
- Ability to prepare and maintain records, files, and reports; to transfer stock between locations; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
Normal office environment; mostly sedentary but may involve walking, standing, lifting up to 30 pounds. May require extended hours and some evenings/weekends. Travel up to 5% may be required, occasionally overnight. The State of Texas offers a comprehensive benefits package.
