The Railroad Commission of Texas is seeking a Training Coordinator in the Alternative Fuels Safety Department to coordinate training and continuing education classes for LP-Gas managers and technicians. The Training Coordinator is responsible for creating the class and exam event calendar each month, determining availability of instructors for each class and exam event, determining the type of event, whether it is in-person or online, determining availability of venues for in-person events, posting the events on the Commission website, registering individuals for class and training events, and entering data on training classes conducted.
The Training Coordinator works under the guidance of the Training Manager to ensure the correct number and type of classes are administered throughout the year. Other tasks include assisting with the administration of exams for walk-in examinees at the AFS Training Facility, answering questions about training, examinations, and certifications, and assisting with the internal Salesforce platform. The individual must have good attendance, be highly organized, detail-oriented, and have excellent customer service skills.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Training Manager. This position is available for limited telework after the training period.
- Determining the type and location of events for the instructional calendar.
- Determining the availability of staff for events.
- Creating class and exam events on the Commission website.
- Assisting customers with registration and system navigation.
- Assisting with registration troubleshooting.
- Entering data on training classes conducted.
- Filing training records.
- Proctoring alternative fuels examinations.
- Answering email and phone questions on classes, exams, and certifications.
- Perform related work as assigned.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 years or 24 months of experience in administrative support work, customer service, or clerical work in a professional office practice.
- Experience and education may be substituted for each other on a year-for-year basis.
- Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
- Experience working with training curriculum and scheduling.
- Experience in interpreting rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Experience with Salesforce platforms.
- Experience with Texas Administrative Code Chapter 9 and Texas Natural Resources Code Chapter 113.
- Ability to address issues/concerns in a professional manner.
- Ability to maintain working relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in effective time and project management with the ability to organize, prioritize, coordinate, and implement multiple projects.
- Ability to use a multi-line phone system and route calls appropriately.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Ability to work effectively on a team.
- Proficiency in the use of computer systems utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and database systems.
- Knowledge of alternative fuels regulations, specifically involving training and certification.
Standard office hours for Commission employees are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our agency offers alternative schedules for employees, provided they do not adversely affect operations or service levels and standard hours of operation are maintained. The Commission may also offer telework in accordance with the agency's approved Telework Plan. Alternate work schedules may be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview process.
