Position: RECEPTIONIST - Evening

Overview

Austin Oaks Hospital, part of Universal Health Services (UHS), is an 80-bed psychiatric facility located in South Austin, TX, offering inpatient and outpatient services for adults and children ages 4-17.

Responsibilities

Receptionist (Evenings). Key responsibilities include processing incoming and outgoing verbal and written communication for employees, patients, families, agencies, and others; assisting with data entry projects; handling copy projects; updating daily census; and supporting overall unit environment.

Essential

Job Duties
  • Answer the multi-line phone system and take accurate messages, relaying them verbally or in writing to appropriate personnel.
  • Professionally communicate with anyone who calls or approaches the reception area with questions or requests.
  • Greet visitors; issue visitor passes and initiate appropriate contacts, speaking clearly.
  • Monitor emergency systems and facilitate response to emergency codes as required.
  • Assist with distribution of mail/packages after hours and weekends.
  • Perform data entry projects, daily census updates, and copy projects.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in dress, attitude, and support of unit milieu, facility mission, and philosophy.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Communicate professionally with all personnel, visitors, and vendors.
  • Understand the importance of positive communication with the public, dealing with a diverse group of individuals on a daily basis.
  • Organize, communicate effectively in writing and orally in English, follow instructions, tolerate interruptions, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patients, families, and staff.
Education

Required:

High School diploma or equivalency.

Preferred:
Some college coursework.

Experience
  • Previous experience with a multi-line phone system.
  • Previous general office experience.
