Staff Assistant – Austin Office of U.S. Senator John Cornyn

Staff Assistant Tasks:

• Maintains front office, general office areas and related office supplies/technology.
• Greets visitors.
• Answers phone calls and maintains call tracking database.
• Routes mail, email and faxes.
• Responds to constituent requests for general information, tours, staff-level meetings and other inquiries.
• Provides support services to the State Director and regional outreach staff.
• Helps manage interns.
• Provides daily report of regional news items that should be of interest to office.
• Handles other administrative duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Government, or a related field.

• Outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications and Windows.
• Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and follow through on assigned tasks to completion.
• Personal knowledge of the Central Texas region preferred.
• Previous internship/experience in a congressional/legislative office preferred.

Note:

This is an in-office position, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday.
