UT Outpost is hiring for 2 summer undergraduate employees (SU26).

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of UT Outpost; opening, closing, and daily tasks.
  • Lead the UT Outpost student organization – hold organization meetings, create an organizational culture, delegate tasks to promote the growth of UT Outpost
  • Manage front desk – complete tasks, answer inquiries, provide customer service, etc.
  • Receive, log, and process donations to UT Outpost.
  • Train and lead student organization members and volunteers to assist with operations.
  • Log all donation and visitor data via the Food Bank Management software.
  • Collaborate with student organizations, academic departments and University partners on initiatives, projects, and events.
  • Prepare, pickup, and/or deliver items to satellites and other campus partners.
  • Educate campus community about food insecurity and UT Outpost through tabling and events.
  • Learn about local resources to redirect and support visitors unable to shop at UT Outpost.
  • Assist with UT Outpost process updates as needed.
  • Work in compliance with all university, departmental, and programmatic policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Complete and submit all required documentation within requested time frames.
  • Maintain confidentiality, except when university policy and/or law mandates a report.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

• Anticipated enrollment for the academic year at UT Austin as an undergraduate or graduate student with a minimum of 6 credit hours.

• Maintain academic standards and a clean disciplinary record.

• Flexible schedule to accommodate daytime, evening, and weekend work.

• Authorization to work in the United States of America.

• Completion of the UT Outpost mandated Summer Intern training

• Participate in weekly team meetings, determined by team availability.

• Completion of additional training sessions as needed.

• Completion of all policy and procedural documentation.

• Prepared to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Preferred to have a valid Texas driver's license.

• Ability to lift at least 30lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication.

• Experience with public speaking.

• Ability to work in a team and provide meaningful contributions.

• Strong organization skills and attention to detail.

• Interest and experience working with student organizations on safety and risk management.

• Experience navigating and working with campus safety offices and resources.

• Experience with Macintosh computers and software or the ability to learn applications quickly (i.e. Microsoft office suite products)

• Work study status.

• Other experience/skills relevant to position responsibilities.

Time Commitment:

• Commit to being a UT Outpost Summer Intern for 12 weeks during the Summer 2026 term.

• Work up to 15 hours each week based on UT Outpost operating hours and class schedule; evenings and weekends included.
