The Robert Strauss Center for International Security and Law is an interdisciplinary research and education center that brings together expertise from the Law School, LBJ School, other UT departments, government, and the private sector to address national and international security issues.

Purpose

Provide reliable, executive level support and assistance to the Director and other executives, interfacing with senior management, faculty, staff, and external constituencies to further the goals of the Strauss Center for International Security and Law. Oversee, manage, and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the center, including a wide array of research programs, educational initiatives, and broader outreach for students and the public.

Responsibilities
  • Executive Support Assist the Director and other executives with administrative needs, travel planning, research tasks, and external liaison, as directed.
  • Administrative Accounting and Processing Reconcile and track expenses, working with the law school's accounting team to ensure adherence to law school and university policies and procedures. Manage grant paperwork. Book travel as needed, processing appropriate paperwork before and after travel, including RTAs and reimbursements, in compliance with university policies and procedures.
  • Event Support and Management Provide support for Strauss Center events managed by senior program coordinators, as directed. Plan, manage, and execute events as assigned. Manage catering for Strauss Center events.
  • Operational Oversight and Management Manage Strauss Center space, serving as the primary contact with the LBJ School. Order supplies and manage inventory. Assist with day-to-day website updates and maintenance and social media accounts. Manage Strauss Center visitors, facilitating scheduling, travel, access, and administrative support, and ensuring that all paperwork is in place, including travel and payment or HR appointments, when appropriate.
  • Other Related Duties as Assigned Miscellaneous tasks assigned by Director.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in program administration or coordination. Experience with accounting and grants. Experience with event planning and execution. Strong organization and communication skills. Experience with UT-Austin systems strongly preferred.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's or other advanced degree in a field relevant to the Strauss Center's work, such as Law, National Security, or Global Policy Studies. Experience working in an academic and/or legal setting. Direct experience with accounting, events, purchasing, grant administration, catering, reimbursements, and travel coordination at UT Austin.

Salary Range

$48,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation, use of manual dexterity. Lift and move standard office files and supplies. Wear appropriate office attire. Accept supervision and feedback. Work hours may include occasional evenings, weekends, and some holidays during peak periods to meet deadlines, attend events, or accommodate travel.
