The projected end date for this part-time assignment is May 31, 2027. Please note that this assignment is located at the JJ Pickle Campus.

Purpose

The Administrative Assistant for the Center for Water and the Environment is a 15 to 19-hour per week position that supports the operations of the Administrative Team on the J.J. Pickle Campus in north Austin. This role will assist with purchasing, service center invoicing, payment vouchers, inventory and general office operations.

Responsibilities
  • Process and track Pro Card purchases, UT Market purchases, and purchase orders.
  • Create Service Center Invoices and process payment vouchers.
  • Assist with inventory cataloguing.
  • General Data Entry.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned, such as VT6s, VPEs and VE5s.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma and five (5) years of clerical experience or a Bachelors Degree and one (1) year of experience at the Administrative Assistant level.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn quickly and be flexible.
  • Ability to undertake and complete tasks with minimal supervision and exhibit individual initiative in meeting the functions of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • More than two (2) years of experience at the Administrative Assistant level.
  • More than one (1) year as an Administrative Associate
  • Experience using UT mainframe accounting system (Define, FRMS)
  • Experience processing purchases at UT Austin.
Hourly Rate
  • $25.00

  • This position may be eligible for a hybrid (on-campus and off-campus) work based on business needs and at the discretion of the supervisor.
  • Flexible hours
    -may work between the hours of 7 am to 6 pm, M-F.
Employment Eligibility

Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. Staff who are promotion/transfer eligible may apply for positions without supervisor approval.

Retirement Plan Eligibility

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
