ResponsibilitiesEssential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following grouped by area:
- General duties
- Complete all required computer-based training and other on-the-job training within the required timeframe.
- Report for shift on time and dressed in proper uniform, including required PPE, slip-resistant shoes, and good hygiene.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including using safety equipment and following safety procedures.
- Greet all guests within 5 feet in a professional, pleasant manner.
- Attend store meetings, including monthly safety meetings.
- Follow all ABME Auto and Jiffy Lube policies and procedures.
- Curbside Marketing
- Hold handheld advertising signs and engage in curbside marketing to attract guests for immediate oil changes or state vehicle inspections.
- Be engaging and energetic with guests and safely grab their attention.
- Clean and maintain the guest lounge, restroom, parking lot, and all property surrounding the store to maximize guest experience.
- Courtesy
- Clean, organize, and stock the workstation; ensure tools are easily accessible.
- Review activity board and be familiar with primary and secondary duties assigned.
- Greet the guest and escort them to the lounge, provide a lounge orientation (coffee/water, restrooms, magazines).
- Place protective covers on the vehicle’s floor (seat and steering wheel if necessary).
- Drive guest vehicles into/out of the bay area and assist in vehicle checks (lights, interior vacuuming, exterior windows, etc.).
- Upper Bay
- Safely guide the guest’s vehicle into/out of the bay area and protect vehicle finish (fender cover placement).
- Check and communicate initial oil level and verify correct oil filter application.
- Check and adjust all tire levels to proper inflation; check, communicate, and fill necessary fluids.
- Add oil, start vehicle, check oil pressure gauge, and check dipstick.
- Complete additional ancillary services requested by the guest and perform upper bay quality inspections.
- Lower Bay
- Complete under-vehicle inspection (drain plug, filter, mounting plate).
- Inspect oil drain plug and gasket; wipe fittings and lubricate as applicable.
- Check and fill gearboxes (if applicable); report under-vehicle status to upper bay.
- Observe undercarriage for leaks and perform lower bay quality inspection.
- State Inspection
- Pass the state-issued background check and attend state inspection training class.
- Obtain state inspection certification and organize/maintain tools, machines, and inspection areas.
- Perform state-specified inspections on vehicles, including safety and emissions, adhering to ABME Auto Vehicle Inspection Policy.
- Guest Service Advisor
- Gather and input guest and maintenance information into the computer (name, address, phone, email, vehicle details).
- Review oil options and manufacturer recommendations; present filters when applicable.
- Recap requested services with pricing, answer questions, and provide an estimated completion time.
- Escort guest to the lounge and inform them of amenities.
- Communicate additional services to upper bay and gather items/parts as needed.
- Review invoiced items with guest, accept payment, inform of value-added items, and invite return visits.
- Team Lead
- Ensure the team works efficiently and productively.
- Complete the Report on Conditions to be presented to the customer.
- Complete checkpoints for each vehicle serviced and monitor workflow.
- Coach and inform teammates with feedback on performance.
Skills and Abilities

- Read, write and speak English.
- Operate equipment such as overhead and floor-mounted oil and grease guns, differential pump, hand tools, radiator machine, transmission machine, tire rotation equipment, computer, telephone, and cash register.
- Must be able to drive vehicles.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Physical Demands- Stand on concrete or metal surfaces for extended periods (typically up to 8 hours).
- Work in an environment with extreme temperatures, loud noises, and exhaust fumes.
- Lift and move inventory items up to 50 pounds.
- Work at a rapid pace for long periods (typically up to 8 hours).
- Push, pull, bend, twist, raise and hold arms, and use tools for extended periods.
