the associate business continuity & catastrophe planning analyst supports the development, maintenance, and execution of the association's business continuity, continuity of operations (coop), and catastrophe (cat) response plans. This role assists with continuity planning activities, risk assessments, training exercises, documentation updates, and cross-functional coordination to help ensure operational readiness during business disruptions and catastrophe events.
working under the guidance of the business continuity manager, this position contributes to enterprise preparedness efforts, supports testing and improvement initiatives, and helps coordinate internal and external stakeholders involved in continuity and emergency response activities.
this is not a traditional business and/or data analyst role.
essential functions:

- support the maintenance and periodic review of business continuity, coop, and cat plans across departments.
- assist with business impact analyses, risk assessments, and recovery planning activities.
- coordinate updates to continuity documentation, response procedures, contact lists, and resource inventories.
- help organize and support tabletop exercises, drills, training sessions, and continuity testing activities.
- document exercise results, after-action reports, and corrective action items; track progress toward completion.
- support annual planning calendars and multi-year roadmap activities for continuity and catastrophe readiness.
- assist departments in gathering required continuity information and validating recovery procedures.
- coordinate with it and operational partners regarding disaster recovery dependencies and readiness efforts.
- support communication and outreach efforts with local, state, and federal emergency management partners as assigned.
- research emerging trends, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices related to continuity and catastrophe planning.
- prepare reports, dashboards, presentations, and status updates for leadership and stakeholders.
- participate in catastrophe response activities and continuity events as needed.
- perform other duties as assigned.
- knowledge of business continuity, emergency management, risk management, or operational readiness principles.
- ability to analyze information, identify issues, and recommend practical solutions.
- strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- effective written and verbal communication skills.
- ability to build collaborative working relationships across departments.
- proficiency in microsoft office products, including excel, word, power point, and teams.
- ability to work effectively under pressure during business disruptions or catastrophe events.
- strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to multitask with professionalism
- bachelor's degree in business, emergency management, public administration, risk management, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- typically requires 2-4 years of relevant professional experience in business continuity, claims operations, project coordination, emergency management, risk management, or related field.
- experience supporting cross-functional projects or operational initiatives.
- familiarity with fema / nims / nrf guidance or emergency management frameworks.
- experience in property and casualty insurance, claims operations, or catastrophe response environments.
- experience facilitating exercises, drills, or training events.
- project management or process improvement experience.
- bilingual skills, preferably spanish.
