Job Description & How to Apply Below

American Operator is looking to add a VP of Business Operations & Strategy to help scale the business while maximizing efficiency and alignment. American Operator acquires exceptional small businesses and partners with great operators to become the next generation owners. Our business is operationally complex, with multiple teams and stakeholders needing to act in sequence, and we are hiring a VP of Business Operations & Strategy to help us scale while maximizing efficiency and alignment.

You will be responsible for three key areas:
Internal Operations (processes, meetings, communications, and KPIs), Technology Enablement (tools, systems, and knowledge), and Strategic Projects (leading critical, cross-functional initiatives end-to-end).

You will work cross-functionally with every team at the company. This role reports directly to the CEO and is based in our Austin, Texas office.

Responsibilities
  • Drive a high-performance culture through KPIs, staff meetings, weekly business reviews, and monthly all-hands.
  • Identify, frame, and solve our most important strategic and operational challenges; removing blockers, owning the roll-out of solutions, and iterating with feedback.
  • Optimize internal communications and knowledge sharing, ensuring we’re leveraging the tools and processes needed to scale an operationally complex business.
  • Drive the adoption of AI-powered tools to unlock greater output and efficiency per teammate.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure we are operating at max efficiency and speed, with clarity across the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, economics, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in management consulting or investment banking.
  • Operating experience in a high-intensity environment; comfortable with ambiguity and biased toward action.
  • Highly tactical with a willingness to execute, whether building decks, configuring automations, or running meetings.
  • Strong relationship management skills, high EQ, and ability to drive change and accountability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA from a top business school.
  • Technical fluency with the ability to engage in system design, process automation, and software development.
  • Strong alignment with our mission, with a personal connection to small businesses and the American Dream.
