Commodity Director Innovation - IP, EDA & Outsourced Design Key Responsibilities
- Lead and drive commercial negotiations and contracting activities for IP, EDA, and outsourced design commodities.
- Develop and execute international sourcing strategies in collaboration with stakeholders in R&D, product lines, finance, and legal.
- Establish and create negotiation plans for high-value international projects, including developing and leading global RFIs and RFQs.
- Actively manage supplier relations, conduct market research, and develop global commodity plans to maintain a competitive environment.
- Serve as the lead communicator with stakeholders, providing input on scope of requirements and offering commercial suggestions for value creation.
- Analyze spend categories and market conditions to apply appropriate sourcing strategies.
- Work with a high degree of independence in a dynamic global environment, supporting multiple time zones.
- Act proactively and take initiative to engage stakeholders and drive projects forward.
- Minimum 4+ years of recent, hands‑on experience in IP (Intellectual Property) procurement is required. This includes actively sourcing, working with suppliers, and understanding licensing models.
- A background in commercial and procurement is essential.
- Demonstrated experience conducting commercial negotiations in North America and Europe.
- Proven ability to manage multiple, simultaneous, complex sourcing events and contractual activities.
- Strong knowledge of the IP domain; experience with key vendors such as ARM, Cadence, and Synopsys is critical.
- Excellent planning, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient with MS Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and presentations.
- Must be a proactive self‑starter capable of working independently.
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with EDA (Electronic Design Automation) software is beneficial but not required if IP experience is strong.
- A background working in Procurement for R&D within the semiconductor industry is highly desirable.
- Experience in a role that is an individual contributor rather than a people manager.
