Job Summary

Pharmacist I – Quality Monitor Pharmacist at Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). Funding:
Health & Human Services Comm, Department: QMP Nurses and Pharm RMS FTE.

Location:

4616 W Howard Ln, Austin, TX. Posting number: 17798. Closing date: 07/23/2026. Salary range: $7,015.16 – $11,864.50 monthly (TEXAS‑B‑27). Shift: Day, travel up to 80%.

Responsibilities
  • Attend work on a regular schedule; collaborate across MCS.
  • Conduct health‑care quality monitoring visits: quality monitoring, rapid response team, and in‑service visits.
  • Review and evaluate drug therapies, facility systems, policies, procedures, and performance reports to ensure compliance with evidence‑based practice.
  • Provide in‑service education and training to facility staff on evidence‑based best practices.
  • Document and report monitoring visit findings, recommendations, and technical assistance.
  • Communicate complex clinical information, answer inquiries, address issues, and resolve problems with facility administrators and staff.
  • Maintain current knowledge through meetings, seminars, literature reviews, and policy updates.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships; supervise or orient peers during quality monitoring visits.
Qualifications
  • Current Texas Registered Pharmacist license in good standing.
  • Two years of pharmacy experience with adult or geriatric populations.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and automotive insurance; may require reliable personal vehicle.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lb.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal long‑term care regulations and Medicaid, waiver programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Strong analytical, communication, public speaking, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision.
  • Exceptional judgment, teamwork, and commitment to evidence‑based practice.
Other Information
  • Regular full‑time, exempt; may travel up to 80% across Texas.
  • Telework possible subject to agency policy.
  • Position may be filled statewide.
