Travel Aide

Vikki Goodwin for Texas is seeking a highly organized, dependable, and energetic Travel Aide to travel with Rep. Vikki Goodwin throughout the general election campaign for Lieutenant Governor.

The Travel Aide serves as the candidate's primary logistical support and primary driver, ensuring the candidate travels safely across Texas, remains on schedule, and is prepared for every meeting, event, and public appearance. This position requires extensive statewide travel, long hours behind the wheel, flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm in a fast-paced campaign environment.

This role reports to the Director of Advance and the Deputy Campaign Manager and works closely with the scheduling, operations, communications, finance, and organizing teams.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the candidate's primary driver, safely transporting the candidate to campaign events, meetings, and travel destinations throughout Texas, driving long distances throughout Texas, often early mornings and late nights.
  • Travel extensively with the candidate, including evenings, weekends, and overnight trips.
  • Ensure the candidate remains on schedule throughout the day and assist with transitions between events.
  • Coordinate with scheduling, advance, communications, finance, and organizing staff to ensure the candidate has the materials and information needed for each event.
  • Prepare and organize briefing materials, speeches, schedules, event packets, water, refreshments, and other daily necessities.
  • Communicate real-time schedule updates and logistical changes to campaign staff while traveling.
  • Track follow-up items, commitments, and requests made by the candidate and relay them to the appropriate department.
  • Assist with travel logistics, including hotels, flights, rental vehicles, and campaign vehicles as assigned.
  • Maintain campaign vehicle readiness by monitoring charge, cleanliness, supplies, and reporting maintenance needs.
  • Help create a welcoming and professional experience for supporters, volunteers, elected officials, donors, and members of the media interacting with the candidate.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the campaign and Operations team as needed.
  • Setup and breakdown of simple campaign displays at events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and remain composed under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional judgment and discretion.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Comfortable driving long distances throughout Texas.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and basic office software.
  • Previous campaign, legislative, nonprofit, student leadership, hospitality, or event experience is preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to work long hours, including nights and weekends, in a fast-paced campaign environment.
