The PM Care/Substitute Counselor, along with their co counselors, will be assigned to staff JCamps’ after‑camp program for a specific group (bunk) of 15‑18 campers, based by grade, Kindergarten‑6th grade. The PM Care/Substitute Counselor will be on‑call to fill in for counselors absent during the core hours of camp. The PM Care/Substitute Counselor is responsible for building relationships with and engaging campers in their care and executing the programmatic goals of camp.

• Assist Youth & Teen Manager with the daily set‑up of PM Care.
• Be available to fill in for counselors absent during the core hours of camp.
• Work as a team with their paired counselors to ensure the daily schedule is implemented.
• Counselors must always set a behavior example for campers.
• Counselors must participate in all activities with campers.
• Counselors will be changed out in swimwear and in the swimming pool monitoring campers during all swim portions of the daily schedule.
• Counselors are responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of their bunk and campers.
• Complete written incident and accident reports, as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

• This position is open to both Junior and Senior Counselors. Eligible Junior Counselor candidates will be going into 10th, 11th or 12th grade or have one of the following: graduated from High School/obtained a GED by the start of camp or be at least 18 years old by the start of camp. Eligible Senior Counselor candidates must be at least 18 years old and have graduated from High School/obtained a GED by the start of camp.
  
  JCamps staff are required to pass all criminal history background checks, including an FBI fingerprint check. They must also obtain a current CPR and First‑Aid certification.
• PM Care/Substitute Counselors are based out of the JCamps Office but will be expected to execute daily responsibilities throughout Shalom Austin’s campus. PM Care/Substitute Counselors will utilize specific areas as a home base for their bunk. Counselors must participate in all activities with campers, including swimming and other water activities. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds.
  
  PM Care/Substitute Counselors must have the ability to be outside and handle Austin summer heat.
• This position is a seasonal full‑time position. The expected hours are from 3 PM‑6 PM Monday through Friday, with opportunities to work at 8 AM. Seasonal work begins with the first day of orientation on May 31 and goes through July 31 with opportunities to work through August 14. Hours are subject to change based on the camp’s needs.
