Position Summary

Delaware Valley Paving is expanding into the Austin, Texas market and is seeking an experienced Estimator to support the growth and success of this new region.

Estimator/Procurement – Austin Market

Delaware Valley Paving – Austin, TX

Key Responsibilities Estimating & Preconstruction
  • Analyze plans, specifications, and construction documents to develop accurate and competitive estimates
  • Perform detailed take-offs and pricing for projects ranging from conceptual budgets to fully developed plans
  • Prepare estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
  • Evaluate project scope, risks, and overall feasibility to determine bid strategy
  • Work closely with operations to ensure estimates align with production capabilities
Market & Vendor Development (Austin Focus)
  • Build and maintain relationships with local Austin-area vendors and subcontractors
  • Source and vet subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and reliable performance
  • Develop a strong understanding of local market conditions, pricing trends, and labor availability
  • Support the establishment of Delaware Valley Paving’s vendor network in the Texas market
Bid Management & Execution
  • Coordinate and manage the full bid process from initial review to final submission
  • Compile and analyze estimate data impacting cost factors such as labor, materials, equipment, and location
  • Manage bid portals and ensure all submissions are completed accurately and on time
  • Participate in contract negotiation and scope clarification
Project Evaluation & Risk Assessment
  • Review project plans and specifications to identify risks, gaps, or inconsistencies
  • Determine whether projects align with company capabilities and financial goals
  • Communicate key risks and opportunities to leadership prior to bid submission
Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Account Managers, and leadership to support successful project acquisition
  • Clearly communicate scope, pricing assumptions, and project requirements
  • Present estimates and proposals to internal teams and, when needed, to clients or partners
General Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
  • Complete special projects and support overall market growth initiatives as needed
  • Occasionally visit job sites within the Austin region to gather necessary project information
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5+ years of construction estimating experience (paving/sitework preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, plans, and specifications
  • Experience with take-offs, cost analysis, and bid preparation
  • Familiarity with the Austin/Texas construction market, vendors, and subcontractors (highly preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively

Compensation

Salary will be based on experience and will be discussed during the interview process.
