Functions in our group include safety, project field management, construction management, quality control, start up and decommissioning, and field engineering. This is a field assignment and requires travel.
- Update and complete the Construction Execution Plan; review and refine the plan as the project progresses.
- Direct overall construction effort, coordinating erection activities, suppliers, direct‑hire craft labor, subcontractors, start‑up and testing activities, and interactions with the owner.
- Manage overall construction and start‑up costs to meet established budgets.
- Review, analyse, and report monthly on project construction budget, schedule, and quality performance; take appropriate action to return the project to plan.
- Direct implementation of established project controls processes and procedures.
- Establish and maintain relationships with clients, owners, alliance partners, craft labor, subcontractors, and suppliers, building trust and credibility.
- Lead the site‑management team.
- Direct implementation of construction‑management procedures.
- Direct implementation of project construction safety & health and loss‑control procedures, ensuring that the project meets agreed safety targets.
- Direct implementation of project quality assurance procedures, ensuring the established level of quality is achieved.
- Direct implementation of project commissioning and testing plans, ensuring that necessary resources are provided.
- Direct implementation of site materials‑management procedures.
- Approve field purchases, equipment rentals, extra‑work authorisations, subcontractor progress and final payments, B&V professional timesheets, and B&V professional expense reimbursements.
- Direct change‑order management for subcontracts.
- Coordinate with the project manager to identify and execute change orders to contract with the owner.
- Direct the resolution of all back‑charges, collection of conformed‑to‑construction records, and other contract close‑out activities.
- Establish site staffing needs and coordinate with the project manager and construction department to staff the site office.
- Mentor site staff, promote internal and external team building, and maintain morale.
- Adhere to safety, quality, ethical standards, lessons‑learned, and performance‑management programs in accordance with BV policies, standards, guides, and contractual commitments.
- Develop and implement site‑specific procedures as required; identify and assess improvement opportunities that add value.
- Champion implementation of LEAN concepts and continuous‑improvement efforts.
- Assess and support the change‑management effects associated with the implementation of improvements.
- Proactively support, encourage, and facilitate staff to engage in continuous‑improvement activities.
- Act as project manager, managing a multi‑disciplinary project team.
- Conduct monthly contractor‑management meetings.
- Participate in weekly contractor meetings.
- Participate in the weekly site‑coordination meeting with all onsite contractors.
- Direct collection of conformed‑to‑construction records and other contract close‑out activities.
- 10+ years experience on similar projects in conventional‑generation construction management with a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years as a Site Manager.
- 15+ years experience with 5+ years in a construction‑management role on similar projects or 3 years as a Site Manager (no degree required).
- Self‑perform/direct‑hire construction experience.
- 5+ years experience on similar projects in a construction‑management role with a bachelor’s degree.
