Description

As an Assistant Site Superintendent, no two days are the same! From helping to provide training and direction to volunteers, Ameri Corps and partner families on building techniques and daily tasks to partnering with our Site Supervisors to ensure site safety through safe practices, documentation and ensuring all persons on the build site comply with all worksite safety measures.

This is a temporary position.

  • Acts as a role model within and outside the Agency
  • Maintains a positive and respectful attitude
  • Works in collaboration with supervisor to determine and carry out departmental oversight and organizational strategic goals
  • Demonstrates self-motivation, flexibility and efficient time management
  • Assist with hands‑on construction tasks including, but not limited to, demolition, site prep, framing, insulation, drywall, flooring, roofing, finish carpentry and landscaping.
  • Lead diverse groups of volunteers, ensuring that they are well‑employed while on the work sites.
  • Use volunteer management techniques to facilitate positive experiences for volunteers and homeowner families working on site.
  • Collaborate with construction staff to identify skilled/enthusiastic volunteers and cultivate their involvement in Habitat’s work
  • Maintain site safety through modeling of safety practices and guidelines, volunteer education, and site monitoring.
  • Attend safety trainings and team meetings with construction staff.
  • Provide on‑site orientations and safety talks to groups of volunteers and homeowner families.
Qualifications
  • A valid Texas Driver’s License and current automotive liability insurance.
  • Must be able to work with volunteers, skilled and non‑skilled workers with a positive and compassionate attitude.
  • General understanding of building trades, such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and how each impacts the other.
  • Comfortable with public speaking to groups of about 30 people.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks appropriately.
  • Team oriented.
  • Mission focused.
  • Direct construction experience is preferred.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs/ladders; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time including heat, wind, cold and rain. The noise level in the work environment is loud.
