Safety Professional
Southland Holdings is seeking a highly motivated Safety Professional for our project in Austin, TX to support the safety department in ensuring the implementation and enforcement of safety policies, procedures, and practices across the organization. Candidate must possess integrity, safety knowledge and the ability to effectively communicate. Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Leading daily safety meetings to promote awareness and compliance.
- Conducting regular safety audits and inspections on construction sites.
- Collaborating with project teams to develop and implement site-specific safety plans and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Completing detailed accident reports and conducting thorough accident investigations.
- Ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforcing adherence to safety procedures.
- Monitoring safety programs and recommending improvements as needed.
- Providing safety training and orientation for new employees and contractors.
- Developing job hazard analysis (JHA) and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) documentation.
- Staying current with OSHA regulations and evolving industry safety standards.
- Actively promoting a safety-conscious culture within the company.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of relevant construction experience, preferably with water/wastewater, pipe, concrete, and tunneling
- OSHA 30 hour in Construction certification
- OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER is a plus
- Training in CHST; STSC; OSHA 510; 500, 502, ACOE EM-385-1-1 is a plus
- First Aid/CPR certified
- Experience with Fall Protection, Scaffolding, Steel Erection, and Excavation
- Willing to travel/relocate
- CSP Required
