Datum Commercial Contracting is in search of a Jr. Estimator to join our team in the Austin Office.

Job Description:

The person is responsible for assisting the Estimating team in locating and contacting subcontractors/vendors for quotes, verify qualifications and obtain any other required information, maintain/update the estimate log and the Company’s directory of subcontractors/vendors and track the status of bids (via Procore).

Position

Responsibilities And Duties:
  • Support ensuring up to date plans, specifications and addenda are received and filed.
  • Solicit and communicate with subcontractors through the Bid Process.
  • Update and maintain the company database of subcontractors/vendors.
  • Request bids, verify qualifications and any other necessary information from subcontractors.
  • Review project plans, requirements and specifications.
  • Scope Review:
    Assist senior staff in reviewing project documents to identify potential gaps in the scope of work.
  • Bid Preparation:
    Help compile final bid summaries and cost proposals under the direct supervision of a Senior Estimator.
  • Subcontractor Outreach:
    Distribute invitations to bid (ITBs) to subcontractors and follow up via phone and email.
  • Document Management:
    Maintain, organize, and update digital project files, addenda, and drawings.
  • Bid Log Maintenance:
    Keep the bidding calendar and CRM database updated with active deadlines and submission statuses.
  • Meeting Support:
    Schedule and log minutes for pre-bid meetings, site walkthroughs, and post-bid reviews.
Minimum Skills Or Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is a strong plus.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple files, track various deadlines, and keep paperwork meticulously organized.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Must have a high degree of professional integrity, and be able to work in a diplomatic, cooperative and organized manner.
  • Familiarity with Construction software (Procore, Plan Swift, Construct Connect, Plan Hub) a plus.
