DescriptionAs a Heavy Civil Construction Laborer
, you will work under the direction of the Foreman and perform a variety of construction-related tasks. This includes heavy lifting, digging, equipment cleaning, site preparation, pipe system assembly, and operating construction tools and equipment.
- Digging, spreading, and leveling dirt, sand and gravel with a pick, shovel, or rake.
- Lift, carry and hold construction materials, tools, and supplies.
- Clean tools, equipment, materials, and work areas.
- Mix, pour and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials using hand tools.
- Join, wrap, and seal sections of pipe.
- Perform a variety of routine non-machine tasks such as removing forms, filling excavations, placing pipe sections in trench, and assembling sections of pipe.
- Perform a variety of machine tasks such as tapping soil, jack hammering, and assisting in the excavation of pipes.
- Must be able to climb on, off, and under various pieces of equipment, and physically access all parts of equipment to perform job requirements.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Safety Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- One (1) year of heavy civil construction experience preferred
- Must be able to travel if needed
- A valid driver's license
Physical Requirements:
- Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
- Must be able to climb on, off, and under various pieces of equipment, and physically access all parts of equipment to perform job requirements.
- Manual dexterity is sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers. Ability to perceive attributes of objects and materials.
