We seek someone who recognizes that a reporter's role must evolve beyond traditional television to connect with audiences where they are. We emphasize innovative techniques that deliver relevant, memorable, and impactful storytelling across our website, news and streaming apps, social media platforms, and eventually on our linear channel.
This role caters to both digital and linear news consumers, offering content through linear broadcasts and our FOX Local digital platform. To effectively serve both audiences, you should be a self-starter with excellent writing skills and a clear vision for how each story will unfold throughout the morning across various platforms.
Strong live reporting skills and the ability to meet frequent rolling deadlines are essential, especially during breaking news and continuous severe weather events that often characterize the Austin news scene. We aim for high audience engagement on social media, and the reporter will be equipped with the tools to achieve and surpass these goals. The storyteller must be skilled in using social media to enhance news gathering and reach wider audiences.
