Customer Service Representative III (0136)
Our mission at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles is to serve, protect, and advance the citizens and industries in the state with quality motor vehicle related services. The Customer Service Representative III provides customer service for title and registration activities in the Vehicle Titles and Registration Division, Vehicle Data Management, and Law Enforcement Support Unit.
Key Responsibilities- Provide routine information and assistance pertaining to vehicle title and registration procedures, laws, rules and regulations.
- Refer customers to appropriate sources for complex problems or questions and process special applications and reports.
- Prepare and edit correspondence, memos and reports for proper format, spelling, grammar, punctuation, typographical errors, syntax and style using a personal computer and applicable software.
- Retrieve title and registration information from master files or databases and verify against applications, forms and original documents.
- Research and analyze manuals, regulations and laws to ensure compliance with established procedures and resolve problems.
- Perform complex data analysis and non‑routine modifications to the master vehicle record.
- Input address changes, vehicle transfer notifications, annual permits, exports and other related transactions.
- Reinstate motor vehicle records and reconcile county title errors with Regional Service Centers.
- Perform verifications through the Texas Department of Public Safety’s TLETS/NLETS system for stolen vehicle and safety responsibility status.
- Process requests to assist TxDMV Headquarters and Regional Service Center staff.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information; adhere to DPPA laws.
- Answer multiple telephone inquiries, route messages and respond to telephone inquiries.
- Provide internal and external customer service through oral and written communications.
- Maintain a productive working relationship with coworkers, management and customers.
- Perform additional branch related duties as assigned by the Manager and/or Lead Worker.
- Attend work regularly and adhere to approved work hours.
- Travel up to 5 percent of the time, including overnight travel by plane and/or car.
- Work extended hours and some evenings and weekends as needed.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- High‑school graduation or equivalent.
- College education or technical training in law enforcement, investigations or a related field may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Two (2) years of experience in a high‑volume customer service, data entry/management or general office administration environment.
- Full‑time experience or prorated part‑time equivalent may satisfy the experience requirement.
A valid Class C driver’s license is required. Non‑Texas residents must obtain a Texas driver’s license within ninety days of becoming a resident. A satisfactory driving record is required to operate state or personal vehicles for department business.
