Position: Rotational Staff Dentist

JOB PURPOSE

The Rotational Staff Dentist provides a range of clinical and administrative services and works closely with the Lead Dentist on all clinical matters. The Rotational Staff Dentist provides treatment at various mobile clinic sites either independently with other rotational staff or with a regional clinical team. The Rotational Staff Dentist may also serve as a provider at rural clinic sites and for special clinical screenings and projects.

The Rotational Staff Dentist serves as an additional provider as well as a substitute for dentists providing treatment, as needed.

DENTAL PROGRAM

The primary focus of the St. David's Dental Program is dental services for children at Title 1 elementary schools and various summer clinical sites within five (5) Central Texas counties, who may not receive any dental care except on the St. David's dental vans. The St. David's Dental Program provides dental services eight hours per day, five days per week so that the Dental Program can reach as many patients as possible.

Each dental van is staffed by professionals who operate full-time as a team, to provide the highest quality of dental care, maximize the number of patients served and achieve optimal operational efficiencies. The dental van is a mobile unit that travels from location to location, and is equipped with two dental exam rooms, digital x-rays, and computer workstations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school.
  • Current license to practice dentistry in the State of Texas.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a licensed Dentist.
  • Current Controlled Substances Registration Certification issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within pediatric dentistry.
  • Passion for working with children and public health.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership skills.
  • CPR, OSHA, Infection Control, and X-Ray certified.
  • Reliable transportation for travel to multiple worksites within five (5) Central Texas counties.
  • Computer proficiency and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • English/Spanish bilingual.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a mobile dental program.
  • Minimum of one year of experience treating a pediatric population.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working in a rural clinic site.
