Registered Dental Hygienist

In collaboration with patients, families (as defined by the patient), and staff across all disciplines and departments, the hygienist is responsible for performing dental prophylactic services in a dental clinic. Full PPE, including N95 masks and face shields, are provided.

• Deliver oral hygiene services, including evaluation of teeth and gums, recording presence of disease, abnormalities, and restorations.
• Take, develop, and mount X-rays; perform dental prophylaxis.
• Perform procedures to comply with infection control policies and prepare operatories for patient treatment.
• Accurately report and document patient status, care rendered, responses, provider orders, and contacts with patients and healthcare providers.
• Maintain patient follow-up procedures.
• Instruct clients in proper dental hygiene practices and procedures pertinent to treatments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Complete all care documentation timely; ensure patient records are current and complete.
• Attend daily patient care huddles, meetings, and conferences related to quality assurance and patient care.
• Maintain licensure and certifications through continuing education.
• Participate in quality improvement strategies.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards including The Joint Commission and clinic policies.
• Develop positive relationships with co-workers, patients, and families.
• Collaborate with the care team to provide patient-centered care.

• Graduation from a certified dental hygiene course.
• Current Texas registration as a Dental Hygienist, including certification for sealants.
• Current healthcare provider CPR certification, maintained during employment.
