Summary
Virtual Visual Interpreter (Workplace Support) responsible for providing real‑time visual description and assistance to employees who are blind or have low vision through live video, screen‑sharing, or remote connection. This role serves as the eyes of the employees you support, helping them navigate both physical and digital work spaces with independence and confidence.

Virtual Visual Interpreter (Communications Leader III) - Location:
Austin, TX 78727 - Duration: 3+ month contract with possibility of extension
- Status:
Onsite
- Real‑Time Audio Description – provide accurate verbal descriptions of visual environments, documents, screens, printed materials, machinery, room layouts, and more.
- Navigation & Spatial Guidance – assist employees in safely navigating physical or digital spaces by describing what is seen through a live camera feed.
- Workplace Assistance – read and interpret text from signage, forms, labels, and other written materials.
- Technical Troubleshooting & Support – guide users through navigating software and using office equipment such as printers or scanners.
- Communication & Adaptation – maintain a calm, clear, steady communication style and adapt descriptions to individual needs.
- Platform Utilization – use video conferencing, video relay services, screen‑sharing tools, and assistive technology platforms.
- Strict Confidentiality – uphold data privacy and confidentiality.
- Documentation & Improvement – document session notes and collaborate with the team to improve the employee experience.
Skills & Qualifications
- Highly Articulate Communication – exceptional verbal and written expression with a rich vocabulary.
- Effective Audio Description – describe visual information quickly, concisely, and accurately.
- Active Listening – excellent listening skills to anticipate user needs.
- Empathy & Composure – patient and friendly demeanor, composed in fast‑paced situations.
- Relationship Building – strong cultural sensitivity and ability to build trust.
- Visual Analysis & Attention to Detail – notice subtle visual cues.
- Spatial Awareness – strong grasp of spatial orientation and directional terminology.
- Problem Solving – comfortable with ambiguity and able to think on the fly.
- Multitasking – maintain conversation while processing and relaying visual information.
- Platform Proficiency – comfortable with video platforms, screen‑sharing tools, mobile apps, and remote access tools.
- Troubleshooting – guide users through basic technical troubleshooting.
- Adaptability – quickly learn new software and assistive technology platforms.
- Work Environment – reliable internet connection and a quiet, private, professional workspace.
- Accessibility Knowledge – background or interest in accessibility, disability services, social work, or education.
- Assistive Technology Experience – familiarity with screen readers such as Voice Over, JAWS, or NVDA.
- Community Familiarity – familiarity with the blind and low‑vision community and associated etiquette.
- Prior Experience – customer service, retail, caregiving, coaching, or virtual communication roles.
- Specialized Knowledge – knowledge of visual arts, geography, or design.
Reasonable, good‑faith estimate of the minimum and maximum for this position is $35 to $39 per hour.
