Architectural Designer
Nolan Bell Design Studio, Austin, TX, US. Full-time position. Posted on Tue, Jul 7 '26.
Nolan Bell Design Studio is an Austin‑based architecture and interior design practice focused on high‑end custom residential, boutique hospitality, and thoughtfully designed commercial projects throughout Texas and beyond. Our work is grounded in a deep appreciation for context, materiality, craftsmanship, and enduring design. We believe thoughtful architecture is achieved through careful observation, rigorous design exploration, and close collaboration with our clients, consultants, and builders.
OverviewWe are seeking an Architectural Designer with 4–7 years of professional experience who is passionate about design and committed to producing exceptional work from concept through construction. This is an opportunity to join a small, highly collaborative studio where every team member plays a meaningful role in shaping each project.
ResponsibilitiesThe ideal candidate has exceptional design sensibility and enjoys moving fluidly between conceptual design, material exploration, detailing, and construction documentation. They are equally comfortable discussing proportion, light, and materiality as they are coordinating technical details with consultants and contractors. This is not a production-focused role. Team members are expected to contribute meaningfully to design decisions throughout every phase of a project, working closely with the principals from initial concepts through construction administration.
Because of our collaborative studio environment, this position is primarily in‑person in our Austin office.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture
- 4–7 years of professional experience, including experience on high‑end custom residential, boutique hospitality, or thoughtfully designed commercial projects
- Advanced proficiency in Revit, Sketch Up, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience contributing to and preparing comprehensive construction document sets, with an understanding of consultant coordination and detailing
- Strong understanding of building assemblies, detailing, and construction methods
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Self‑direction, sound judgment, and exceptional attention to detail
- A collaborative mindset, positive attitude, and genuine curiosity about architecture, interiors, materials, and construction
Your portfolio should demonstrate both design thinking and technical proficiency. Please include examples of conceptual design work, built projects, construction details, and completed drawing sets that clearly illustrate your role in the design and execution of each project.
About Our StudioWe intentionally maintain a small, collaborative practice where ideas are shared openly, and every team member has a meaningful voice in the design process. We value curiosity, humility, accountability, and a deep appreciation for architecture, interiors, materials, and craftsmanship.
Compensation & BenefitsWe offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with medical insurance and flexible paid time off.
