Position: VDC / BIM Specialist - Commercial Construction Employee Owned Firm

Candidate can be located in:

Dallas, Austin, or Houston, Texas | In Office | Full Time

About the Company

We are recruiting on behalf of a well established, 100% employee owned commercial general contractor with offices across Texas. Having recently crossed 200 employees, the firm is in an exciting growth phase, building some of the most significant commercial projects in the state. Guided by strong core values, it offers a family oriented, entrepreneurial culture where every team member is an owner with a real stake in the work.

The Role

As a member of the Operations Technology team, the VDC / BIM Specialist supports the implementation of BIM and VDC services across all phases of construction. Working closely with the Operations Technology and Preconstruction teams, this person coordinates project information, supports and develops models, and facilitates collaboration to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and add value on projects across Dallas, Austin, and Houston.

This is a growth role on a small, tight knit team, reporting to and supporting the VDC Manager. The right person can independently manage and coordinate two to three projects at once, staying with each project through the roughly one year it takes to get out of the ground. This is an in office role in Dallas, Austin, or Houston. The firm builds exclusively in Texas.

Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & BIM Execution
  • Develop project specific BIM Implementation Plans (BIP) and BIM Execution Plans (BEP)
  • Host 3D clash detection meetings and coordinate model reviews with project teams
  • Develop and maintain project BIM schedules
  • Support Preconstruction with BIM based quantity takeoffs (QTO), coordination, and planning
  • Participate in project and owner meetings, communicating clearly with teams, design partners, and clients
Modeling & Technical Support
  • Coordinate, review, and further develop models across all project phases (primarily receiving and coordinating models rather than building each from scratch)
  • Model mock ups, critical details, missing information, and logistics or sequencing plans
  • Set up VDC field equipment and software such as Top Con, and help implement reality capture technology
Strategic Vision & Value Creation
  • Help grow the firm's VDC capabilities across projects and teams and integrate VDC into company operations
  • Use VDC to generate client confidence and added value, and help design partners resolve issues proactively
Education & Collaboration
  • Educate project teams on VDC processes and BIM applications, and share best practices across teams
  • Continuously improve VDC processes and eliminate waste
Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a VDC / BIM capacity for a general contractor
  • Proven ability to independently manage and coordinate multiple projects at once
  • B.S. in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Proficient modeling in Revit; experience with Navisworks, Revizto, BIM 360 or ACC a plus
  • Experience with Tekla, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Sketch Up, and MEP coordination, a plus
  • Able to quickly learn new tools and teach others, comfortable client facing and field facing
Who Thrives Here
  • Adaptable and tech forward, always looking to improve how things are done
  • Mentorship minded, collaborative, and respectful with trade and design partners
  • Energized by an employee owned, growth oriented culture built on strong core values
Compensation & Benefits
  • 100% Employee Owned Company (ESOP)
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and long term disability, plus worksite benefits, with 100% employer paid premiums
  • Two retirement plans (401k and ESOP)
  • Health Savings Account with employer contribution
  • Vacation (immediate accrual) and paid holidays

Equal Opportunity Employer, including disabled and veterans.

Employment is contingent upon favorable results of a background investigation and drug testing.
