Senior Landscape Designer – Design & Construction

Austin, Texas | Full-Time | In-Person

Cooper & Company is seeking an experienced landscape designer to help lead the design process and carry projects from initial concept through construction and long-term care.

We are an Austin-based landscape architecture company specializing in high-end residential design, construction, and maintenance. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to be actively involved in both design and the field.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and drive the overall design process
  • Develop design concepts and carry them through execution
  • Produce planting designs, hardscape designs, and material selections
  • Conduct site analysis, field measurements, photography, and documentation
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations
  • Create renderings and other presentation materials
  • Coordinate between the design and construction sides of the company
  • Maintain design intent throughout construction
  • Perform field quality-control reviews
  • Coordinate material selections and procurement
  • Identify construction, maintenance, and long-term performance issues before they become problems
  • Help improve internal design standards, details, and processes

This role will not be heavily focused on drafting. It will also not be responsible for scheduling field crews or negotiating subcontractor contracts. The emphasis is on design leadership, field involvement, coordination, and execution.

What We’re Looking For
  • Strong landscape design ability and technical judgment
  • Experience carrying designs into construction
  • A practical understanding of planting, grading, drainage, materials, and construction detailing
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Dependability, organization, and consistent follow-through
  • The ability to communicate proactively with clients, vendors, and coworkers
  • A willingness to learn and uphold the Cooper & Company design and service standards
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Paid time off
  • Monthly vehicle allowance
  • Retirement benefits planned for implementation

Standard office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is an in-person position based in Austin.
