Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer of Neurology, the Vice Chief of Neurology will enhance every Access Tele Care Tele neurologist’s efficiency in reaching the patients who need them, establish specialist coverage for neurological conditions presenting to partner care settings, and integrate Access Tele Care neurology clinicians into existing staff structure internally as well as within partner systems.


Duties and Essential Functions:

Leadership responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with designated care settings to minimize outbound transfers by providing access to consistent and high-quality neurological care at home sites.
  • Partnering with designated care settings to shorten length of stay by arranging for prompt guidance on appropriate neurological workups and initiation of discharge processes.
  • Partnering with designated care settings to reduce readmissions by supporting utilization of attentive care management and discharge planning.
  • Managing the day-to-day operations and interactions required to support clinical quality and growth of the Neurology Service Line.
  • Participating in discussions with potential clients and existing clients as needs arise.
  • Building relationships with partner care settings that are supportive, quality-driven, and constructive towards shared goals.
  • Advocating for best clinical practice parameters and supporting clinician engagement.
  • Overseeing compliance efforts as required for clinical practice.
  • Anticipated projects and duties towards those goals include:

    Creation/support of focused workflows to enhance:

    • Prompt responses to acute neurological conditions.
    • Best outcomes in management of neurological conditions.
    • Continuity of patient care.
    • Collaborative co-management with on-site hospital staff.
    • Thorough and complete documentation of neurological care plans.
    • Clinician fidelity to the expectations of a team-based practice.
    • Adherence to system processes of healthcare delivery with attention to quality metrics.

    Identification of standards pertaining to the:

    • Timely response to acute stroke care, consistent with expectations of national accrediting bodies such as The Joint Commission.
    • Management of the spectrum of neurological conditions.
    • Documentation of evaluation and management plans.
    • Sign-out system.

    Streamlining of operational processes to include:

    • Clinical onboarding.

    Championing of practice compliance expectations to include:

    • Clinician efforts to meet credentialing, licensing, and privileging requirements.
    • APP collaborative practice agreements with physicians.
    • Compilation of state-specific requirements for medical practice.
    • Monitoring for, educating on, and reviewing of coding outliers to enforce coding accuracy.
    • Oversight of annual training module completion.

    Additional Duties Include but are not limited to:

    • Encouragement of continued medical education and guiding practice within the most current care parameters.
    • Establishment/facilitation of regular feedback process on clinician performance.
    • Oversight of clinician management efforts towards excellence in service performance.
    • Encouragement of interactions amongst and supervision of the interface amongst the various Neurology Service Line programs to include Emergent Neuro, Non-Emergent Neuro, Ambulatory Neurology, and EEG service line programs.
    • Fostering of a collegial and team-based environment in which to further our reach towards patients who require our care.
    • Functioning within a leadership capacity to support the Chief Medical Officer’s directives and serve towards those directives in the Chief Medical Officer’s absence.


    Supervisory Responsibilities:


    · Recruit, train, mentor and supervise Medical Directors.


    Education and/or Experience:

    • Master of Business Administration or Health Administration.
    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited institution; board certification in a relevant specialty required.
